Too hot to handle, UFO story

The video made me lose my fear to buying in the net/ebay. It was impossible to get it except by a extremely high price... never again!
However it would have deserved it, despite i got it at very low price. 15$ shipping included.
Renditions of most of strangers in the night tracks, with comments from Phil, Pete and Michael... Steve Harris and Rick Savage invited too.
Specially awesome love to love (cut), lights out, let it roll, and see a very young band in out in the street and shoot shot.

Michael Schenker. Robin McAuley. 92. Unplugged.
Of course, everybody knows Michael, the splendid axeman from UFO, MSG, MSG II, Scorpions and MS lately.
This record is the first unplugged he did, and with Robin's voice, thay accomplised a fantastic achievement.
Natural thing, and the indispensables Lights out & Doctor doctor, impossibles to fail from any Michael's or UFO concert. Classics forever.
Anytime, we belive in love, nightmare, when i'm gone, what happens to me from the Perfect timing, Save yourself & MSG records. Not as classics as UFO ones, but still great songs.
Just a acoustic softer, mellow record to enjoy, perfectly executed. The concert was video shooted too. Great!

Strangers in the Night

What can you say when you are talking about the greatest live record of all time? I use to like songs in studio, since you can listen to the song at its best, but this record is incredible. The live versions here are outstanding ...
I wanted to have the lyrics -and not only has the lyrics, but the comments in the whole concert :-)) - in such a record, so I had to had the japanese version.

Yes, without a doubt the greatest record live ... however when Michael heard the version of Rock bottom he said 'poor poor rock bottom' ... well maybe the author was too exigent, to me is reaches perfection: let it roll, what a solo!!, doctor, doctor, the incredible love to love, the powerful lights out, rock bottom, out in the street, natural thing, shoot shoot, ... this natural record is really too hot to handle :-D ... a superb collection of songs ever best performed.

You do not know what you are missing if you still do not know it ... thanks again JL for bringing it to me directly from Japan :)

obsession

what a cover! one of the best ever. the components of the band with bubbles in the face but michael... this is really to impact. to astonish. and the music? the music is great!
this is the last record to feature the german axeman. it is not as compact as lights out, but it shines.
the intial rocker, only you can rock me it is a classic timeless. ain't no baby and pack it up and go are not special favourites from me, but they seem to please most of fnas, but then we arrive to looking out for no1, a track i really dig in. hot n'ready and cherry are two songs that make the live set, and they are good. but it is the last song, born to lose, that makes me shiver. it is an incredible song, seem to be lost from everyone, since i never heard that made it into a best of or a live set. the song is awesome, a slow lament with the guitar solo, signature of michael. phil's voice never had been better. a truly solid record

they could have been as big as zeppelin. strangers in the night was the proof. it seems somehow that you can reach for what you want, but then become scared... and michael left... it may be strange for us but achieving all you want might not be as easy... :-S

force it

after the phenomenon record, which by the way left us 2 outstanding classics, ufo style begins to show with force.
tracks as let it roll, with a magnificient slow solo in the middle of the song, shoot shoot, the classical mother mary, part of any ufo concert, and out in the street which is another favourite of mine, show that ufo is consolidating a star with its own shining light. this kids is another song that can make the live set. amongst the rest, high flyer is a song that deserves as well recognition. it is a solid record which was preparing the path for the immense 1977 lights out.

ufo still were not massive, they would reach that point with the obsession record, in the tour were strangers in the night was recorded. i always think that ufo was about to make it but schenker departure prevented the band from reaching a status few bands are able to get it. maybe they could have matched led zeppelin, but i guess that this would have been too much... but they had all the ingredients for 'the soup' :-)

no heavy petting

usually classified as second range, this is not a masterpiece ... well, maybe you haven't heard the whole record ... it has weak points, but it is a great record. natural thing and the mid tempo i'm a loser can make any ufo concert, so this is a great beginning.
can you roll her is a great fast track, but with no aggressive style as lights out.
belladona is the delicious slow tempo, but not a ballad, with great guitar chords and a majestic voice. real nice song.
and we have to reach the final record to find a great song which was not composed by pete, michael or phil: martian landscape, which never did the live, maybe because the atmosphere is a bit difficult to make it, but it is a great song anyway.

8/10 indispensable for ufo fans

lights out

this is the best studio effort from my beloved british band. 8 songs only. what a shame!
too hot to handle opens the record. a heavy riff with a catchy chorus.
just another suicide, great song, not played life, but a great one, courtesy of phil.
try me, what a ballad! for showtime dvd it was recorded with violins. it is a nice song, but somehow it was forgotten, but not by me :-D
the title track shows aggresivity and force. it is a powerful song melodic, and it seems you are gettin' out of hell. a true classic. mandatory in every concert. gettin' ready and electric phase are just average, and then we come to a cover song, alone again or, which just fits in ufo style. very catchy too. i would say it is an amusement from the band.
the best way to close an unforgettable record is with another memorable song: love to love. the solo is really incredible. the song is absolutely majestic, awesome. michael is a genius, but i have to admit that the song played by paul chapman in rockpalast 80' is slightly different but absolutely impressive and is able to make the people believe it is from his own. paul's performance is incredible, and the band stays at the same high level.
it is a classic record that ... was made in 77'??? so what?

Graham Bonnet + Michael Schenker.
A really aggressive one. Brilliant songs, though short record. 8 only songs. but what a songs!
assault attack, rock you to the ground, dancer, samurai - i always tend to think that graham is somewhat subjugated by oriental culture, mainly japanese (samurai, hiroshima, ohayo tokyo .. )-
but as long as the songs rock and are great ones :-) who's complaining? not me, shame it did not last ... it could have been an incredible team...

I bought the record because i was into Graham Bonnet. Yeah, guilty! I love most of his work. Then i began getting records because there was Michael on them :-), it is always the same old song and dance...
desert song, searching for a reason. desert song was incredible, rock guitar and a very heavy high voice, and the heavy melody around it, makes you feel you are in the middle of the desert

9/10 A must buy. 2 rock.

Michael Schenker's first acoustic record... and just guitars.
as far as it reads, it can only be acquired through Michael Schenker directly, but i got it in a shop. And it is not the only one that i've seen. Also says that 1$ is donated to a certain foundation in order children get a better life. Well, this is nice... i wonder how many times i've seen things like this ... :-S
Now to the music. The music is good. very good. Not very long instrumentals in which two guitars, as Michael's logo, cross each other...
I would emphasize postive forward, the first song, and also I like very much peace and faith&trust.
The names of the songs are postive feelings, truth, joy, acceptance and forgiveness, harmony, humbleness, love and kindness, a record to listen peacefully. Really nice, but not to rock ;-)
I also got the version 'thank you with orchestra', a very nice one too.

An instrumental acoustic pleasure for the senses.

9/10 for Schenker fans indispensable, for the rest, enjoyable.

Strange cover. This should be an Ufo record ...
This was a nice surprise. Ufo are able to do a normal record or a superb record. This one is between the two.

Love is forever is a good starter, expressing an 'interesting philosophy' this song just rocks! Unraveled is even better, the best song of the record, with an obessive rythm and funny lyrics. This is a Mogg/Way collaboration. Miss the lights is not a bad song, the same as the following, midnight train, but it is not as catchy as the other 3 ... I can not understand why UFO chose that one to begin the concert of my life? Ok, not a marvelous one, just ok.
Fool's gold initiates with a magnific Schenker solo, and the song is mid tempo until nearly the end. Good song again :)
Then i find nothing interesting until Serenade, which is a real good one, very good... comercial? Who cares!.
A live bonus cd makes this package more attractive, and it makes it more valuable.

You will like it if you are a die hard, and you may like it if you are into hard rock/metal.

Ufo is one of my favourite groups, i can't help it.
From all my concerts -and all of them have been really good: Def Leppard, Bon Jovi, Acdc, Metallica, Megadeth, Diamond Head, Judas Priest, Mötley crüe, Alice cooper, Scorpions, Helloween, Mr Big, Aerosmith, Dio- i would choose 2 really really specials:
-1997, a kid's dream, original Kiss in make-up :-)
-the concert from Ufo i lived in 2004 was the concert of my life ... it was just perfect, not the ideal set list -for the new songs, basically... hey, half of strangers in the night (the best live album ever!) included :-D -, but just in front, 4th line, bouncing and screaming 'only you can rock me' and all the songs, perfectly executed, no boring drum solos, just the songs as they are, and Vinnie and Jason just fit perfectly, Phil sang really well, Paul was where he had to be and Pete, well, he was the soul of the concert, rockin' & rockin' again :-)
