Electric eye

This is a fantastic compilation from Judas Priest:
-all the videos until Painkiller,
-the priest ... live tour (1986, Turbo tour), and
-bbc performances from the early 80s.

The Priest live turbo tour it is priest at its best. The performance of the sentinel is incredible... Rob voice extremely acute plus the duel of Glen and KK solos ... :-D

you can see it here:

There is no missing any essential song: electric eye, breaking the law, out in the cold, freewheel burning, screaming for vengeance, hell bent, living after midnight ... but the ripper

I only would miss also some comments from the members of the band. This would had help making the package awesome.

It has a mini booklet of 8 pages... There are dvd with less.

10/10 great to have

Angel of Retribution

I would not have bought this one if there was not for the following things:
-It was from the Angel of Retribution Tour, and I was there ... This can not be explained but I like to have the records of the concerts I went to ... I still miss a lot :-)
-It is a special edition with a DVD with 7 songs and a Rockumentary.
-It was really cheap.

It is the come back, not really classic songs, but not bad songs:
I specially like Judas is rising, Worth fighting for and Angel.
A strangely long epic Lochness is a nice one, but strange in Judas catalogue. Hellrider is good also.

So that was the deal...

8/10 nice to have

Defenders of the Faith

What a monstrous achievement!
I have no words to describe it. The best is to list all the songs:

  • Freewheel Burning
  • Jawbreaker
  • Rock Hard Ride Free
  • The Sentinel
  • Love Bites
  • Eat Me Alive
  • Some Heads Are Gonna Roll
  • Night Comes Down
  • Heavy Duty
  • Defenders Of The Faith
  • Turn On Your Light
  • Heavy Duty/Defenders Of The Faith (live)

For me it was unbelievable that no song from this record went on Angel of Retribution Reunion Tour ... :-( ... maybe the sentinel is the one i like most, probably because of the duel of solos in the middle of the heavy metal future ... but any song here is a classic Priest!
As long as you like heavy metal, you'll love this one ... no doubt.
How could they forgot to add 'turn on your light' into the original release ... even the members can't understand it these days ...

Without a doubt the best Priest release.

10/10 classic status

turbo

this was the first judas priest record that i heard. at first i thought they were too much metallic for me but i found this record very accessible. this is not bad. songs were melodic and maybe more hard rock than heavy metal that is why priest fans may complain about it. it is a big step from defenders, my favourite, but i think this is a very good hard melodic work. songs as turbo lover, locked in, reckless, hot for love and the power ballad out in the cold.
i may be blamed :-( because of this but i do not care, i believe it is a great record, and priest were breve for entering in quicksand territory. of course this were not going to please everybody but a great band has to take risks ;-)
the remastered version offers few things, since i expected more. the record is nicely decorated, the lyrics are in but i would have expected some history about the making of the record ... the story of the twin turbos or comments about each song... in this address more information about this could be found: http://members.firstinter.net/markster/TURBO.html

Baptizm of fire

Great title. Great cover. What about the music. Well it is Glenn Tipton from Judas Priest. It can not be very bad ;-)
True, it is a good record, but it has its shinning moments.
For me the bests are:
Paint it black, the cover from RS is really really great. Baptizm of fire is an instrumental really good, and you can see who is contributing: Billy Sheehan, Don Airey and Cozy Powell.
Let's go for a real fast: Kill or be killed is the one. With a half demoniac voice it puts a spell on you to fight.
Himalaya is the japanese bonus. This is unfair. It is a magnificient song trying to evoque the gigantic mountains and their feeling. Truly incredible. Why should be bonus?

Hard core, enter the storm, fuel me up ... good songs but nothing special ... for me.

7/10 nice to have
