7800 F

Bon Jovi second opus was a disappointing for nearly everyone... but myself. It is true first self title album was a great one, and Slippery just coming after, made the band be known worlwide. This one is more intimate, but with songs really good.
Hardest part is the night, in & out of love, the ballad Silent night, Secret dreams, Tokyo road...
I always loved Always run to you and the rocker price of love.

The pain of pleasure
Lying together
Youre at their mercy
As the telephone ringing on

No one said thered be nights like this
Risk your life for a stolen kiss

100M BJ fans can't be wrong

I remember when it was released, i thought ... naahh ... horrible art work. Horrible title. And these must be demos not finished.

But as always I liked Bon Jovi, I got it as xmas present.

And I am highly surprised. :-)) .. I did not expect it could had so many good songs. Let's go for the ones i am more impressed:

-if I can't have your love (RS on vocals): great lament ballad with Richie's at his best
-Only in my dreams (TT on vocals): great song, nice voice, nice lyrics, awesome performance... maybe the one I am more impressed of.
-Good guys dont always wear white: great rock song heard it long time ago, from a bso
-Memphis lives in me (DB on vocals): another nice piano ballad. Not a bad voice, adding feeling... but a little too short..
-Always (demo): not as spectacular and more intimate but good as well.
-Last man standing: this actually could had made any record perfectly, good song!

8/10 indispensable for Jovi fans, but not essential for the rest

Bounce

I confess i bought it for only 3€, because when I first heard it, I did not have paid proper attention, so I guess, here is another chance...
Now I have to say I like it a bit more: everyday, misunderstood, open all night, right side from wrong are good songs... quite different from Bon Jovi style -to my taste- , even Bon Jovi ballads ... but good songs! it is another kind of feeling, but at least I still recognise they are good... just was not expecting them.

And I am glad I did another listening!

Big rock up-tempo song is the title one: bounce!

New Jersey

New Jersey is for me the most similar you can call a part II for Slippery. that is not bad. Here you can expect high rock anthems and bigger ballads.
side A is perfect:
Lay Your Hands On Me Bad Medicine Born To Be My Baby Living In Sin Blood On Blood
though it begins by the weakest song
from side B, there are 2 great songs worth of mention, Wild Is The Wind & I'll Be There For You
the other songs are fillers.

So it is a bit weaker compared to Slippery but clearly, a winner. i mean I would say there are 5 instant classic anthems in 1 record!! :-)

10/10 brilliant

These days

After buying Keep the faith I thought Bon Jovi was a safe value. Why was it going to change?
Well, certainly there is an before and after since Keep the faith. Slippery and New Jersey were high anthem rockers. Here we have a more mature Jovi version... And it will continue to all their discs (we like it or not..)
But this record is solid, and it is good enough, but it is nost Slippery II (as it was New Jersey): Hey god, something for the pain, lie to you, damned, this ain't a love song, bitter wine..

Two of my favourite all-time bon jovi songs are in this record: These days and the supperb My guitar lies bleeding in my arms. Man, this song has a strength i have seen in few songs, honestly...

I can't write a love song the way I feel today
And I can't sing no song of hope, I got nothing to say
I can't fight the feelings, that are burning in my veins
I send this song to wherever you are, As my guitar lies bleeding in my arms

Of course it may not please to all fans.

This was a gift from my future wife... thank you love :-)

Keep the faith

Mother mother tell your children
That their time has just begun
I have suffered for my anger
There are wars that cant be won

Father father please believe me
I am laying down my guns
I am broken like an arrow
Forgive me
Forgive your wayward son

My 2nd concert was the Bon Jovi Keep the faith tour. I couldn't convince my girlfriend to come (she had an exam) and she recognised later she did wrong... but I went, of course :-) ... around 30th march '93.

I loved Bon Jovi by that time and I still think Jon is a great composer and delivered great. Even they played dry contry, a fantastic epic which with the title are the best songs from the record. Nicest ballads in these arms and bed of roses are great as well... And I love if i was your mother. Jon is a great singer and the band rocks and ballads, and i guess most of the most of metal-heads will hate me because this support, but I do not care. I love good songs and Bon Jovi wrote and perfomed a bunch of the highest quality.

10/10 classic status

Heaven and Earth

A friend of mine told me he liked the cover art. What about the music?
this is a project from Stuart Smith. What is a project? It is, usually, the concept of a guitar player and some singers contribute in several songs.
Most notable singer is Joe Lynn Turner, who does specially well in Shadow of Tyburn tree, and the title record, heaven & earth...
Richie Sambora makes a great intervention in another great song, with feelin', Deep Purple cover, When a blind man cries, also singing. Richie has a really nice voice who always has lived at Jon's shadow ... at least he knows to play greatly guitar.
The rest are just average songs, but there are quite a lot of well known rock musicians, so I would say this is worth your money ...

destination anywhere

second solo record for jon bon jovi. a peaceful one, with, maybe, a soul smile ...
curiously, the track that i love most is the heaviest one, or i think so. it is carried full of emotion, anger and resignation at the same time. it is the track that puts this record in the map, and maybe help his personal ghosts. August 7th, 4:15 came unfortunately from a tragedy, and i guess jon put his soul into it. great song, sad loss. maybe it reminds me to praying mantis naked, another great song from a sad loss.
the other song i dig in is midnight in chelsea. it is nice, peaceful.
the rest of the record still has to be discovered ... time to time

7/10 very nice to have

Slippery when wet

The last record i bought recently. I wanted the remastered cd. I guess programs like vh1 ultimate albums, make you dig more into it. But at least they make you happy. I found interesting that in 86 even Bon Jovi nearly could not change the cover from their own record, the one which was going to make them famous. How and which power still had record companies... :-(
And just a little common sense ... think! ...
which rocker would have liked
that pink cover ???? :-S :-S
Thank god he managed to change it... :)

It was the first K7 i owned -around '92-, so this is always something special. I knew all the songs nearly by heart. Bon Jovi (Jon) is a fine songwriter and you know that, if you buy a record, you will like at least 3 or 4 songs. With this one you will like 9 or 10 songs ... hmmm ... there are only 10 songs! it should be a good one.
I guess i can not say anything more form this record who is 20 years away ... They could have done a special anniversary collector's edition ... :-) which i would have loved it ...
Livin' on a prayer, i'd die for you, without love, never say goodbye, bad name, wanted doa, raise your hands, let it rock ... Hard rock, let it rock, let it go!!
